the comp field guide

know the game.

from your first queue to the final payout. the rules, the controls, and your account—all in one place.

01

the basics

#

comp is a trading game. you pay a buy-in, everyone in the match gets $10,000.00 of play money, and you all trade the same chart at the same time. when the clock runs out, the best PNL takes the pot.

the trading is simulated. the buy-ins and prizes are real. nobody can see the future, nobody gets a better chart, and skill is the only edge.

choose any to join whichever public mode fills first. bigger modes can start a little short of full if the queue has been waiting a while, so you never sit in a queue forever.

03

joining a match

#
  • queue for a mode and buy-in. you can leave the queue any time before a match is found.
  • when enough players are in, everyone gets 15 seconds to accept. if someone doesn't, the rest go back into the queue with nothing charged.
  • the buy-in comes out of your balance the moment the match locks, then a short countdown and the chart starts.
04

the chart

#

every game is played on a real piece of market history, replayed fast. what it is stays hidden until the end: the price is rescaled to start at 100, and the asset, the dates and anything else that could identify it are stripped out.

it could be anything that trades. you won't see the same stretch twice in a row, and there is no pattern to memorize from one game to the next. read the candles in front of you. when the game ends, the chart is revealed.

05

trading

#
  • go long if you think price goes up, short if you think it goes down.
  • leverage from 1x to 100x (1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x as quick picks). margin is size divided by leverage.
  • market orders fill now. limit orders wait for your price and can be cancelled.
  • set a take profit and a stop loss on any open position to close it automatically.
  • the smallest order is $1.00 of size. there are no trading fees inside a game.
06

liquidation and busting

#

a position is liquidated when its loss eats 90% of its margin. at 10x that's a 9% move against you. you lose that position's margin and keep trading with the rest.

if your balance drops so low you can't place the smallest order, you're busted: out of the game with your PNL frozen. busted players still rank, below everyone still in. if everyone else busts, the last one standing ends the game and wins.

07

headlines

#

headlines drop into the feed while you trade, some marked as scheduled events. some matter, some are noise, and some are flat wrong, just like real news. they're another thing to read, not a cheat sheet.

08

winning and payouts

#
  • the pot is every buy-in added up. comp keeps a cut that shrinks as the stakes grow (5% under $1,000, 4% from $1,000, 3% from $5,000, 2% from $10,000, 1% from $20,000) and the rest is the prize pool.
  • you're ranked by PNL when the clock hits zero. open positions are closed at the final price.
  • ties split the prize money of the places they share, evenly.
  • in team modes, a team's score is its players' PNL added up, busted teammates included.
  • winnings land in your balance as soon as the game ends.
09

custom games

#

make your own lobby and invite friends. you set the player count (2 to 20), the length (up to 30 min) and the buy-in (free up to $20,000.00). the top quarter of the lobby gets paid, with more going to higher places. free games have no pot and no fee.

10

spectating

#

every live game can be watched from spectate: the chart, the standings and the leader, in real time. you don't need an account to watch.

11

leaderboard

#

the leaderboard ranks top traders by net winnings over the last 30 days, and keeps the most recent and biggest wins.

12

deposits and withdrawals

#

your balance is in dollars, held as a stablecoin. you can fund it a few ways from the account page.

  • send stablecoin from your own wallet. the main way in: send the stablecoin shown on the account page to the deposit address, from the wallet you sign in with or one you've linked there (you prove it's yours by signing a message). transfers from any other wallet can't be matched to you.
  • deposit from any supported chain. pick the chain and what you're sending, and you get your own address for it. whatever lands there is converted to stablecoin and credited once the conversion settles, usually within minutes.
  • private deposit. an option routed through a privacy provider, for when you'd rather not link your wallet to your account.
  • withdraw to any supported chain. a review screen shows the full address, the platform fee, the network fee and what arrives before you confirm. cross-chain, it also shows the least that can arrive: if the bridge price moves past it, the withdrawal is cancelled and your balance restored. withdrawals are sent in the background and show up in your history.

send only the assets listed for the chain you picked. anything else may not be recoverable.

13

account and security

#
  • one sign-in method per account for now. google, an email code or a wallet: come back the way you signed up. signing in another way can't open a second account; we tell you which method your account uses.
  • sign-ins last 24 hours. while your google, email or wallet session is still active we renew it quietly; otherwise you sign in again.
  • sign out everywhere (account settings) ends every session on every device at once, including ones that have since expired.
  • withdrawals ask you to sign in again if your last sign-in is more than 10 minutes old, so someone at an unlocked screen can't cash you out.
  • withdrawal limits: at least $1 per withdrawal, and a rolling 24-hour total shown on the withdraw form.
  • names: your @username is unique and can change once a week. display names are free-form, so the @username always shows beside them; names that pass for staff or for comp itself aren't allowed. an X handle on a profile is unverified.
14

fair play

#
  • everyone in a game sees exactly the same chart and the same headlines, at the same moment.
  • prices come from the server. nothing on your screen can change what fills or when.
  • one account per person. multi-accounting, collusion and match fixing get accounts closed and winnings held.
  • play with what you can afford to lose. nothing here is financial advice.
15

responsible play

#
  • 18+ only. signing in means confirming you're 18 or older and accepting the terms and privacy policy.
  • self-exclusion: account advanced settings lets you step away for 7, 30, 90 days. until it ends you can't queue, open or join a lobby, or deposit, and it can't be lifted early. withdrawals stay open the whole time.
  • more on responsible play.
